According to Daily Star, young mother Babita Ahirwa, 21, fainted after giving birth to conjoined twins at a district hospital in Vidisha, India.
Doctors identified only one heart during an ultrasound of the newborn boy and said there was little chance of such a child living a normal life.
The mother’s condition is currently stable, while the child is being monitored at the hospital’s neonatal special care unit.
Babita’s husband, Jaswant Singh Ahirwar, 25, said: “My wife fainted after seeing the baby. We were shocked. We couldn’t believe our baby had two heads.”
“But it is my child and I will raise it. I haven’t held him yet. But as long as he is alive, I will love and care for him,” Jaswant added.

Previously, the couple was informed that Babita would give birth to twins after an ultrasound at 35 weeks of pregnancy.
Many curious people flocked to the hospital to see the baby. Dr. Sanjay Khare, a surgeon at the hospital, said: “At this time, we have to worry about dealing with the crowd of people who came to see the two-headed baby after the news spread.”
Surendra Sonkar, a pediatrician at the hospital, said the baby will stay in the hospital for further treatment.
“We are now taking care of the baby and will take the opinion of expert doctors in Chopal and Delhi who have performed surgeries on such children,” Ms. Surendra said.
A two-headed baby is a rare condition that occurs when the fetus does not develop properly, jeopardizing the child’s normal life.
India’s National Health Information Portal said that the common rate of birth defects in India is about 6-7%, equivalent to about 1.7 million birth defects annually.
