The four-week-old baby boy is now waiting for surgery to correct the defect, which left a hole in his skull
A LITTLE boy born with a rare condition has been cruelly dubbed the “two-headed” baby.
The four-week-old tot has a huge sac growing out the back of his skull.
The baby boy, Yue Zhuangzhuang is now waiting for an operation, after a selfless relative began to campaign on his behalf.
The newborn, who arrived on Valentine’s Day, has been diagnosed as suffering cranium bifidum, also known as encephalocele.
The rare defect – estimated to happen in around one in every 12,200 births in the US – happens when the plates in a baby’s skull fails to close properly in the womb.
It means some of the brain’s membrane poke through the opening that’s left in the skull.
In Zhuangzhuang’s case the sac is nearly as large as his head, prompting some to cruelly dub him the “two-headed” baby.
The poverty-stricken Yue family took the newborn to hospital to try and seek help in treating him.
But, they were forced to head home again to North China’s Hebei province, after doctors revealed the cost of the surgery.
It was then that 22-year-old Li Yaling found out about the boy’s situation, and wanted to help.
Little Zhuangzhuang is the son of her uncle’s brother, with whom she has no blood relation.
She posted a video of the month-old tot online, prompting a large response.

Members of the public flocked to donate money to help the family fund the op he so desperately needs.
And Li then took it upon herself to take the baby boy to Beijing, quitting her job so she can help care for him around the clock.
Doctors at Peking University First Hospital are now treating young Zhuangzhuang for infections, but it is still unclear when exactly the infant can undergo surgery to have his sac removed.
Surgeons will aim to place the protruding part of the brain back into the skull, and close the hole.
It can require several ops to fully correct the defect, according to the CDC.
