A young girl suffering from a rare skin mutation is turning to stone as her body becomes covered in hard blisters.

Thick, hard and scaly grey growths cover little Rajeshwari’s body leaving only her face and chest free.

The stony-blisters are caused by an incredibly rare genetic mutation – with scientists saying only 24 cases have been reported worldwide.

Rajeshwari, 7, from India, suffers from ichthyosis that causes reddening, scaling and severe blistering of the skin.

The incurable disease attacks the process of skin regeneration in the human body, making it hard and flaky.

It means the girl is almost turning to stone, leaving her life a ”living hell” as she exists in constant pain.

The disease is not fatal, but it hinders her every single day – making simple actives as walking and sitting very painful.

The rarity of the case makes research difficult and the medicine to control the incurable disease has severe side effects.

Simple healthcare is already a problem in the region – so she has to travel to cities for treatment to ease her pain.
