Prepare to be inspired by YouTuber Marimar Quiroa.

The 21-year-old vlogger was born with a facial tumor called cystic hygroma (a fluid-filled sac caused by blockages in the lymphatic system), which left her unable to speak and resulted in her having to eat out of a tube in her stomach. But that isn’t stopping this beauty from teaching the world self-love and acceptance — and the fact that her disability won’t hold her down.

According to Barcroft TV, Marimar once hid from strangers (she’s undergone multiple surgeries to shrink her face and mouth to what it is today), but is now using her pain and disability as a platform to show the world self-love and acceptance through her inspirational makeup tutorials. Here, she redefines beauty:

During the video, she explains where her strength and confidence comes from. “When I was young I’d talk to myself in the mirror,” she signs. “I’d tell myself I was beautiful … I’d encourage myself and list things that were good about me. That’s how I learned to accept myself for who I am.”

And while others have shown love to Marimar through her makeup tutorials — “People type their comments after they view my videos, and they say some really nice things,” she adds. “They tell me I’m beautiful and love my makeup” — she’s also had to shake off a fair amount of haters.

“I have encountered negative people both on YouTube and out in my daily life,” she explains. “People tell me I look like a monkey … that my mouth is wrong. I see them staring. I either tell them to stop or just ignore them, but if people are staring at me, I stare right back. I refuse to look away until they stop staring.”

But mean people who comment behind the comfort of their computer screens won’t hold this beauty down. She plans to become a teacher for deaf children. Marimar ends the video with this positive observation and sage life advice: “To me beauty means to accept yourself for who you are, and to ignore what other people tell you; you show your beauty how it is … it doesn’t matter if you have a different looking face. Accept yourself who you are.”

I mean, if you’re not inspired to be a better person and thankful for who you are and the abilities you were blessed with, you might want to check your pulse.
