AS a world-renowned dermatologist, Dr Pimple Popper has certainly seen her fair share of gross lumps and bumps.
But when 67-year-old Dennis walked into her clinic to have a giant cyst on the back of his head removed, even she was shocked.
Checking him over in the latest episode of her TLC show, the medic – whose real name is Dr Sandra Lee – says: “If this is a pilar cyst, it’s the most giant pilar cyst I have ever seen.”
Dennis, from Wyandotte, Michigan, has been putting up with the growths all over his head for two decades.
But the one right at the back of his head has grown so large it has meant he has had to put his love of motorcycling on hold – because he can’t get his helmet on.
Even lying down to sleep is painful – but Dennis’ fear of doctors has stopped him from going to see one regularly.
It has left his wife Donna scared she might lose him if he doesn’t do something about the cysts.
Through tears, she told him: “We’ve been together 32 year. I couldn’t imagine life without you. He’s been with me over half my life, he is my life.”
He finally made the decision to do something about the growths and went to see Dr Lee at her clinic.
When she gets to meet him in person, she is clearly surprised by their size and tells Dennis his biggest lump is the largest nodule she has seen.
She nicknames it a “water balloon cyst” because of the liquid in it and he shows her how it is so buoyant it can be jiggled.
In the operating room Dr Lee has to be careful when extracting the growths as the are located on his scalp.
She carefully cuts the biggest one open which causes the cyst inside to burst out its yellow contents.
Dr Lee squeals: “Look, it’s like gold! Look at it!”
Dennis’ wife, who was in the operating theatre to comfort him, looked delighted at the pus oozing out.
Popping another cyst, Dr Lee described the contents as an “old egg salad”, as the yellow pus came trickling out.
But her assistant said it looked more like “honey mustard”.
After cleaning up the mess and tying off some blood vessels, the doc stitches Dennis back together.
She tells him she will see him in a couple of days to remove the remaining three bumps.
Hopefully once Dennis is all recovered he will be able to get back on his motorcycle with his helmet safely in place.
